What is ScreenTickr and who is it for?

ScreenTickr is a weekly board that connects everyday responsibilities to screen time. Parents set up the tasks and what each one is worth, and children earn minutes by doing them. It suits families where screen time has become a daily negotiation. It is not a chore chart for paid work, and it is not a monitoring or content-filtering tool. It does not control the device.

How does earning screen time work?

You create a template of weekly tasks, each worth a set number of minutes. At the start of a week you activate a board from that template. As tasks are completed you mark them off, and the minutes add up. When your child asks for screen time, the board has the answer, so the question becomes how much they have left rather than whether they can have any.

What are Done, Failed and Thumbs Down?

Every task can be marked one of three ways: Done: the task happened, and the full minutes are earned Failed: it did not happen, and no minutes are earned Thumbs Down: minutes are deducted Failed is the everyday outcome for something not done, and it is not a punishment; the child earns less that week. Thumbs Down exists for when behaviour warrants a real consequence. We recommend using it sparingly.

Can I use it with more than one child?

Yes. Each child gets their own template and their own board, so tasks, expectations and minute values can differ by age. Nothing is shared or compared between siblings.

Is it free? Will it stay free?

Free while in early access. No payment required. We are working with early users to refine the product before introducing paid plans, so that what we eventually charge for is shaped by what people actually use. If you are using ScreenTickr today, you are helping decide that.

Do I need to download an app?

No. ScreenTickr runs in your browser on any device: phone, tablet, or computer. There is nothing to install and nothing to keep updated.

How do I set up my first board?

Sign up, add your children, build a template of weekly tasks, and pick a start date. The app walks you through each step the first time. Most families find one evening is enough, including the conversation with the children about what is expected.

Can my child see or edit the board?

Accepted Answer

Your child can see their progress and their earned minutes if you share a read-only link with them. Only a parent can create, edit, or mark tasks.

What information do you hold about my family?

Accepted Answer

To run your account we store your name and email address, and the first name you give each child. Children do not have their own accounts or logins. We do not sell personal information. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is collected, which providers process it on our behalf, and how long it is kept.
