Privacy policy: what ScreenTickr collects and why

How we handle your family's information, in plain terms.

1. Overview

ScreenTickr ("we", "us", "our") provides a web application that allows parents to create routine and reward charts to help children earn screen time in a structured and positive way.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

2. Information we collect

Account information

Parent name
Email address
Password, if you sign in with one. It is handled and stored by Firebase Authentication using industry-standard hashing. We never see or store your password in plain text.
If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email address with us.

Child profile information

First name or nickname
Routine task data
Reward and screen time tracking data

We do not require children to create accounts.

Usage data

3. How we use your information

We use information to:

Provide and operate the ScreenTickr app
Authenticate users
Track routines and rewards
Improve app performance
Provide customer support
Send service-related emails (for example, sign-in links and password reset emails)

We do not sell personal information.

4. Children's privacy

ScreenTickr is designed for use by parents.

Parents may create child profiles within their account. Children do not create independent accounts and cannot directly provide personal information to us.

We rely on parental consent for any child-related information entered into the app.

5. Third-party services

We use trusted third-party providers, including:

Firebase (Google): authentication, including the sign-in link, verification and password reset emails it sends
A managed PostgreSQL database host: stores account, child profile and board data
Vercel: hosting infrastructure for the app and this website
Resend: service emails such as welcome emails, once we start sending them
Google Analytics: website usage analytics on www.screentickr.com (opens in a new tab) (sets cookies)
PostHog: product usage analytics in the app (sets cookies and local storage)
Vercel Web Analytics: page view counts (cookieless)
Lemon Squeezy: payment processing for paid plans, if and when we introduce them. Lemon Squeezy acts as the merchant of record, and we never see or store your card details.

These providers may process data on our behalf in accordance with their own privacy policies.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

Signing in. Firebase Authentication keeps you signed in using your browser's storage.
Product analytics in the app. PostHog uses a cookie and local storage to recognise a returning browser. It records which pages are visited and which buttons are clicked. It identifies you only by an opaque account identifier, never by your name or email. It does not record your screen, and it never captures what you type into a form.
Website analytics on www.screentickr.com (opens in a new tab). Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits and see which pages people arrive from. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without cookies.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and site data. Blocking or clearing site data on the app may sign you out.

7. Data storage and security

We use industry-standard security measures including:

Encrypted connections (HTTPS)
Secure authentication via Firebase
Access controls and monitoring

No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

8. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active.

You may request deletion of your account by contacting support@screentickr.com.

Upon deletion:

Account data will be permanently removed from active systems
Some backup copies may remain for a limited period

9. Your rights

Request correction of inaccurate data
Request account deletion

10. International data transfers

Your data may be stored on servers located outside Australia, for example on Google Cloud infrastructure for authentication and on our hosting and database providers' infrastructure. By using ScreenTickr, you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
